2000 census, at which time it was a town.

Goodman is located at (36.741499, -94.411054).
According to the
United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.3
square miles (3.3
km²), all of it land.
Demographics
As of the
census of 2000, there were 1,183 people, 454 households, and 319 families residing in the town. The
population density was 921.4 people per square mile (356.8/km²). There were 501 housing units at an average density of 390.2/sq mi (151.1/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 90.36%

The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.06.
In the town the population was spread out with 28.2% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 26.7% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 14.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 102.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.0 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $26,349, and the median income for a family was $29,728. Males had a median income of $26,250 versus $21,364 for females. The
per capita income for the town was $11,052. About 14.8% of families and 18.3% of the population were below the
poverty line, including 18.9% of those under age 18 and 16.8% of those age 65 or over.
